Georgia Tech has asked their students to wear white to create a "white-out" for the game tonight against Miami.
But some students are not on board with the concept according to the AJC. Some even say that they'll be surprised if 50% of students show up wearing white.
Reason's GA Tech Alumni have found for not wearing all white:
- Those who don’t own white Tech gear don’t want to buy something just to wear to one game.
- It will be too cold to wear just a sweatshirt, a problem for those who don’t own white jackets. Temperatures are expected to be in the 30s by the end of the game.
- They say it’s gimmicky and, if Tech loses, the school will look foolish.
- They don’t want to appear as if they’re copying Georgia, which has had three blackouts since last year.

Re: White Out...
Oh I went to PSU! There is nothing like being at a white out game! No one else can do it :) Even when other schools do other things like "black outs" or "brown outs" it just isn't the same!

Re: White Out...
I love The Bert Show, but I feel like you guys don't give my school a fair shot. Georgia Tech is a wonderful school with an active alumni network in Atlanta.
Here are some interesting GT facts: - 2007 Undergraduate rankings moved GT to number seven among public universities in the country - In 2007, the average starting salary for a Georgia Tech graduate was over $48,000 - The Alumni giving rate is first among all public universities and 18th overall - Georgia Tech has won four National Championships in Football - Tech was the first major state university in the deep South to desegregate without a court order - In 2007 the Tech Promise was initiated to assist all qualified Georgia students, whose families have an annual income of less than $30,000, attain a debt-free education at Georgia Tech - Coach John Heisman led Georgia Tech to win the most lopsided game in the history of college football (222-0)
Sincerely, George P. Burdell

Re: White Out...
Wow, I wish I had seen this sooner. I hate that the article that spawned this blog was read on the air, because it was an absolute disaster of a column. The White Out at Bobby Dodd Stadium turned out pretty well for a one-shot event at Georgia Tech on a Thursday night. The AJC's article was very, very poorly written and took the statements of a very select few (one) Tech fans and pretended that they belonged to the majority. Most Tech fans that knew about the event were excited about it and participated.
This was a first time thing for Tech and we pulled it off pretty well for something that not everyone knew about in advance and on a night in which it was hard for people to have time to rush home and change before heading to the game. Penn State's whiteouts are a rather constant occurrence.
The name of the man who was quoted in the AJC's story was "Yetman" which has actually become a joking insult among Tech fans. Anyone with a pessimistic or negative attitude is typically referred to by the name.

Hey! I'm Wendy and I'm a 23-year-old single girl living in Atlanta. I am thankful to say that I am a part of an amazing morning show and get to work with an incredible group of people everyday. I'm so blessed to say that I work with friends; it makes the job that much more exciting. I love living in the city. I definitely think Atlanta has a lot to offer. It's a great place to go out and meet lots of people and have a great time. I'm bad at writing the whole "about me" section, so I just put a list of things that make me happy in the next paragraph so you can learn what I'm all about. =)
Happiness = pillows, capri suns, re-runs of "Full House" and "Saved By the Bell," Starbursts, flip-flops, NFL football, tailgating, TGG boots, ranch-dressing, cotton smelling candles, Jager Bombs, fleece blankets, afternoon naps, tights and 80s boots, snack machines, the free gifts from Victoria's Secret, dresses, Perez Hilton, cheesy boy bands, the beach, partying, my fabulous friends, my loving family, Judge Mathis, cuddles, Mickey D's chicken nuggets, *NSYNC Christmas music, crazy Britney Spears, and gossip magazines!
