Don't you love it when your weekend goes perfectly?  Great friends, great food and great entertainment!  And the weather was really nice so what more can you ask for?  On Friday, one of my really good friends came in to town and of course the proper thing to do is show her around Atlanta.

Ok, now if you've never had a lobster taco, you have to have one!  And Matador Cantina Oakhurst is the only place to get them.  I can't tell you how good they are!  Yes, I can!  They are delicious!  You can't go wrong with that or the plantain or pretty much anything they have on the menu!

Later that night, after we were able to pry ourselves from the table, we went to one of my favorite spots where they host a number of improv productions.  When I read that Dad's Garage was doing an improv soap opera by the name of "Scandal!", I just knew that it was about me.  Well, it wasn't but it was still an awesome and very hilarious show!  They have shows 52 weeks a year and the tickets are really affordable. So if you're looking for great, late -night entertainment after dinner, this is just perfect!

Saturday came around and my friend and I were off to another delicious restaurant, Thumbs Up.  Now, if you're a big fan of great eggs, this is the place for you!  Even if you're not, there are so many delicious dishes to choose from.  I had the Belgian Waffle, which I highly recommend and my friend had the Sassy Scramble.  It is so much food, you will go away full and happy.

Oh, I forgot to mention that while we were waiting for a table at Thumbs Up (a very popular place), we took a little tour around town. There is this decadent little bakery called Desserts by Latrell that has this Red Velvet Cake that you definitely want to leave room for. It’s the original location found in the Historic Fourth Ward. And in the bakery, there is artwork displayed that caught my eye. You have to check out this kid, Ibrahim.  He is so talented! His work can also be found at Saboor's Gallery located at 1011 Hilburn Drive Atlanta GA 30316.

A weekend would not be complete unless you do a little shopping.  Ok, a lot of shopping!  Don't judge me!  There is this fun little store called Braincell and they sell the cutest outfits for dogs. T-shirts, vests, sweaters, scarves, dresses, hoodies as well as toys, doggie snacks, bowls, carriers...you just have to go and check them out! Oliver and I got matching Braves T-shirts!

Sunday brought another day of fabulous eating, FlipBurger was our place of choice and I have to say, I have no regrets!  The lamburger was just tasty beyond all belief!  And I have to say that the asparagus tempura goes great with it!

So my suggestion to all of you is to get out and experience Atlanta!  When you go to restaurants or just have free time for some fun, change it up a bit!  Don't just do the typical dinner and a movie thing.  Try difference places!  If you need more suggestions, let me know!

About Brittany

Hey, I'm Brittany!  I'm "that girl that comes on after The Bert Show" or alternately "that girl I won a prize from!" when I run into you on the street or at a Q100 event.  I live in the Virginia Highlands, and you'll find me eating at Harry & Sons sushi, walking my dogs in the park, or catching some great improv at Dad's Garage.  I've got all of the best brunch recommendations in town, just ask!

I'm also pretty good at naming songs by the lyrics, so if you can't figure out what that song is that's stuck in your head, give me a call between 10am and 3pm and I can probably tell you.  I also just like to hear from people who are listening throughout the day, so call the request line, 404-741-Q100 and tell me where you're listening at work!  You can follow me on Twitter as @Q100Brittany
